On the side:
As a Chicago hostess for monthly MediaBistro.com events, she plays an integral role in bringing together Chicago’s media community.

Backstory:
A journalism scholarship won while hammering out weekly news for her high school newspaper allowed her to study journalism during summer vacation at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. Hooked on the school's pristine campus, she applied to their journalism program. She earned her bachelor’s degree there while working as the Director of Public Relations for the campus television station.

The Feathered Trumpet:
The Feathered Trumpet name was inspired by the Trumpeter Swan. The bird is now an endangered species because it was hotly pursued in the 1600-1800s for its largest flight feathers, which were considered to make the best quality quill pens used for writing. Trumpeter Swans can occasionally be spotted in their natural habitats – the vast lakes and rivers in northern Wisconsin. One of those is the mighty Chippewa River that runs through the Eau Claire college campus. Recognized by their loud sound offs, the Trumpeter Swan is an indelible icon of the broadcasted message. The protected bird symbolizes a favorite story subject of The Feathered Trumpet: the environment.
